Enabling Secure and Collaborative Grid Operations
About
TEF TSO is dedicated to enhancing the efficient use of equipment and resources through secure and collaborative digital environments. This node aims to promote infrastructure-sharing between operators and external stakeholders, while addressing safety and cybersecurity issues, thus, fostering trust and transparency in critical grid operations.
Testing Infrastructure
The node is based in Slovenia, where TSO ELES and DSO Elektro Gorenjska will provide the required infrastructure and act as end-users for the validation and demonstration of the environments. Moreover, JSI and ComSensus contribute to this node through bringing computing facilities and AI expertise.
Physical
The physical infrastructure is supported by three key partners: ELES, Elektro Gorenjska and JSI, who will provide the required means to develop advanced services for the TSO-DSO coordination.

Slovenia
- The Diagnostics and Analytics Centre (DAC) which will support the transition from Time Based Maintenance to Condition Based Maintenance, and will also act as a hub for digital infrastructure.
- A compute node based on a Supermicro A+ Server, offering strong computational and storage capabilities
Virtual
The virtual infrastructure is based on services included in the ELES DAC and in the JSI computing infrastructure. In addition to that ComSensus offers crucial AI services for the implementation and validation of use cases created for the TSO-DSO collaboration.
- Big data
- Advanced analytics
- AI algorithms, such as grid observability instrumentation
- PowerBI reports
- Drone-based imagery
- VR/AR models
- Three-tier virtualized system for:
- Foundational infrastructure
- Internal Kubernetes services
- User-exposed services
Available Data
The data is collected from the physical sites and includes both operational and asset-specific information, grouped as follows:
- Operational measurements
- Real-time metered data (power flow, energy exchanges, losses, power quality)
- Protection relay records
- EMS/SCADA measurements
- Renewable energy source data
- WAMS data
- Dynamic-line-rating data
- Event monitoring data
- Surge arrester and lightning strike records
- Tower deformation and conductor measurements
- Weather measurements
- Traffic flow data
- Asset Records:
- Field observations and recordings
- Diagnostics and maintenance logs
- GIS-formatted network element data
- Tool and vehicle energy consumption
- EV charging station data
